FRANCESCO COMPAGNA

Professor of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the International University of Rome (UNINT). Member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Criminal Law (AIDP) and treasurer of the Italian Group. Admitted to the Rome Bar Association since 2003 and admitted to practice before higher courts.

CURRICULUM VITAE

He graduated with honors in Law from Sapienza University of Rome in 2000, and completed a specialization in criminal law and a PhD there. For twenty years, he has taught and conducted research at Sapienza's Institute of Criminal Law and Procedure, collaborating with Professors Stile, Fiorella, and Gambardella, as well as with other Italian and international universities, including LUISS, the Polytechnic University of Milan, and the International Institute of Criminal Sciences. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Criminal Law and, since 2014, treasurer of the Italian Group chaired by Professor Paola Severino. He has participated in European research projects on corporate criminal liability and held teaching positions, including at the Cassino School of Law and the Medichini Training Center. A lawyer since 2003, he is a member of the Rome Bar Association and focuses on corporate criminal law and criminal liability pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/2001. He has experience in complex trials involving environmental and railway disasters, manslaughter, corruption, aggravated fraud, false corporate disclosures, and money laundering. He has developed specific expertise in investigative techniques and scientific testing, from telephone record analysis to DNA extraction. In addition to his litigation work, he provides consultancy on 231 compliance matters, having contributed to the drafting and updating of organizational models for leading companies, including listed companies, and chairs several Supervisory Boards.
